Selection and
use of coursebook materials
Coursebook is defined like
a key to teach. It means that students and teacher need materials in order to teacher has a guide how
to teach and what students are going to learn while students will have this
material like evidence because they have this material to check, to practice in
order to develop their four skills. Also,
the material like student´s book, teacher´s book, tape recorded board,
websites, workbook, handouts, and so on are called a coursebook package.
Consequently,
Teacher needs to identify what learners level has? In order to have information
to build a class profile. How does teacher do that? First, applying a resource like diagnostic
test, then with the results teacher could choose a correct material to
teach the language through the context
; for this reason I understood that teacher has to plan stage by stage. It
means the lesson plan must be organized; teacher should take into consideration
the aim, student’s motivation, learning style for this
teacher has to use a good methodology, a clear example could be when teacher
wants to teach greetings, he or she must use pictures, and also teacher could
perform a problem for example: a job’s interview, where students can differentiate
between the formal and informal greetings. Allowing teacher adapt the coursebook depending on the
topic and the grammatical part that teacher wants to teach.
